readers had to say...
"This book was absolutely brilliant. I particularly enjoyed the dark, twisted vibe that it portrayed and how the author managed to create an intricate world and story about demons, love and monsters. The writing in itself was one of my favourite things. It was poetic, inspiring and addictive, and I stopped almost every chapter with the urge to write a line down because of how good, relatable and real it was. The queerness of the story only enhanced this aspect, as it was very well-written. As a queer person myself, I could easily understand and relate to Alexander's struggles and the way people viewed them, which was both heartbreaking and inspiring. The love story was like a light in the dark in the middle of everything and I truly loved how it was both dark and hopeful in a very beautiful way. The plot was great, surprising and quite unique. And, of course, the ending both broke my heart and brought it back to life. Breathtaking!"

"It was such an amazing story, and it was beautifully written.
Seriously, the writing was so good! There were so many lines in it that were absolutely quote worthy.
Shane and Alexander were also really great characters, and I loved them both so much!
I especially related quite a bit with Alexander and their struggles, and I think many others will as well.
Also, the romance in this book was amazing and definitely my favourite part."

"If I could give this a thousand stars, I most definitely would! I have a really soft spot for the ‘eternal lovers bound to meet in every life and then something tragic happening to them’ trope and oh my did this one not disappoint! From Alexander hunting for clues about what was going on in Pine Creek while also trying to hide from the town’s citizens because of what they had done to them in the past to Shane’s mysterious yet hilarious personality, this book is perfect for anyone who loves paranormal romances.
One of the things I really enjoyed was that after a while, both characters stepped out of what was normal for the main characters and decided that they were going to do whatever they could for themselves and not the world. It was something that I hadn’t seen a lot in books, something fresh and new that made this whole experience better than I could ever imagine."

Lucifer has made a demon – the first of its kind, and one that had not fallen. Because of this, the beast cannot control its impulses. Lucifer's secret is threatened to be exposed to the Archangels, so they decide to imprison the creature until further notice. In this time, a human soul begins to frequent their visits. The two different entities form a bond unlike the world of the living and dead have ever known – and when the soul is taken from them, the Made demon rages unlike Hell has ever seen.
The state of Oregon, North America, modern day.
Alexander Grahams is forced to move back to their home town in Oregon after the passing of their mother. Their conservative father makes coming out and expressing themselves a difficult task, but they are determined to just get through their last year under his authority and roof, while avoiding all the memories of bullying which haunt them. However, something isn't right in Pine Creek.
Long shadows known to Louise Barnes – a former bully – as Daemons, have latched onto every resident...expect for one person. Shane Hyde is the town's biggest bad news – though Alexander grows to like him as the two spend time together. Amidst unravelling mysteries and looking for a way to free the town from whatever curse is holding it, Alexander finds themself falling for Shane. But the teenager warns them from the beginning not to get too close. Something is off about him too.
Alexander must decide if they could love a monster – both Shane and an iron beast from dreams they're starting to remember, and whether that love is more important than Pine Creek and the mortal life they've led so far.
